CHAMPION FOR AMERICA’S SENIORS AWARD
Recognizing Members of Congress Who Promote Seniors
Seniors matter for America. There are over 61 million Americans over 65 and our numbers are growing every day.
When it comes to participating in the political system, seniors consistently overachieve. In 2024, 43.3 million seniors voted. Americans over 65 made up 28% of all voters which accounted for only 18% of the total population.
These are just some of the reasons that our elected officials should pay attention to seniors and the issues that matter most to retiring Americans.
Seniors Matter for America is a conservative coalition dedicated to advancing President Trump’s SENIORS FIRST Agenda. We champion policies that protect promised benefits for seniors, put more money in their pockets, and ensure their long term health care.
Seniors Matter for America is proud to announce a new, annual recognition for lawmakers who are committed to seniors by granting the Champion for America’s Seniors Award to Members of Congress based on their votes throughout the year.
Criteria for Award Recipients
Seniors Matter for America will review the floor votes, committee votes, co-sponsorships, and official letters of support of Members of the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.
Members of Congress will be assessed on their overall commitment to the core principles and policy goals advocated by Seniors Matter for America and our membership. Those include:
Protecting promised and existing Social Security and Medicare retirement benefits.
Strengthening Popular Senior Programs Like Medicare Advantage.
Cutting the costs of prescription drugs and increasing their availability.
Reducing taxes on seniors, including ending taxes on Social Security benefits.
Promoting affordability in nursing and long-term care.
In order to help Members of Congress protect seniors, Seniors Matter for America will be sharing our goals with offices on Capitol Hill throughout the year. In addition, we will issue regular alerts to elected officials when a particular issue will be weighted in our award making criteria.
We look forward to recognizing Members of Congress who fight to provide a higher quality of life for over 61 million American seniors. When politicians fight for retired and retiring Americans, Seniors Matter for America will be here to honor them with the Champion for America’s Seniors Award.
